Spaghetti Westerns DVD Collections

"Spaghetti Westerns" is a term used to describe western movies that were primarily made by Italians during the 1960s and 1970s. The movie that is credited with launching the Spaghetti Western genre is "A Fistful of Dollars" which was directed by Sergio Leone and starred Clint Eastwood. "A Fistful of Dollars" is actually not the first Italian-made western, but it was the first to become an international box office success and thus led to the creation of hundreds of spaghetti western films.

The heyday of spaghetti westerns was 1964-1975 with the pinnacle years being 1966-1968. It is estimated that nearly 600 of these types of western movies were made. Because spaghetti westerns lost their popularity over the years, many of them have not been released on DVD. Instead, you'll often find just internationally famous spaghetti westerns like "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" which is considered by many critics to be the absolute best spaghetti western ever made.
